“Do you wanna, do you wanna be, happy
I said do you wanna, do you wanna be, happy?
Free from pain, free from scars. Free to sang, free from bars. Free to love, to each his own. Free from bills, free from pills. Life get hard, you ease your soul. It cleanse your mind, learn to fly. Then reach the stars, you take the time and look behind and say, “Look where I came. Look how far I done came.” They say that dreams come true and when they do, that that’s a beautiful thing.”
That’s some amazing J.Cole for you. That song called ‘Intro’ which was released in 2014 still makes me question whats the meaning for all of this? I know we’re not on this Earth to be born, go to school, work to pay off school, and then die. There’s got to be something we’re here for. Lately, I haven’t been happy. People think when you have a nice car, nice house, nice clothes, etc. that you’ll automatically become happy and I can tell you from personal experience that that’s the farthest thing from the truth. The materials mean nothing if you don’t have happiness. No amount of clothes can fill that void that you have when you go to bed at night. Clothes and trends change just like the seasons. A house can’t make you happy if you have no one to share it with. You can have the best heating system in the world but being alone in your room is the coldest thing ever. You can have the nicest car in the neighborhood, but it means nothing.
When did we become so materialistic? I’m 20 and hate when people say “this new generation doesn’t XYZ“. This sense of materialism didn’t just start with my generation, maybe it’s human nature? To always have nice things and try to use it to mask a deeper issue. I don’t know. What do you think? Are you happy? Tell me in the comments.
